If you drive a Cadillac Escalade you probably know about all the awards received by this Cadillac truck over the years. But one title bestowed on the vehicle in 2011 was not so complimentary, as it was the most stolen truck in America. General Motors, parent company, has made plans to end this situation.
As explained by Bill Biondo, General Motors' leader for vehicle theft prevention "The goal is to make the Escalade a very difficult target for thieves without any added inconvenience for customers". "The new systems work in the background and few people realize they are there."1
Here are the security features to expect onboard an all new Cadillac Escalade:
- Sophisticated encryption system for keys, dubbed Pass Key 3+ to thwart theft.
- 'Shock sensor' to reduce theft by sounding the alarm when window glass being smashed.
- Tougher steering column lock system - GM says is "nearly impossible" to steal an Escalade via flatbed truck.
- 'Inclination sensor' sets off an alarm when is senses a change of the vehicle's angle - if the Escalade is being dragged onto a flatbed truck.
- Stronger wheel locks will also be included.
