Capitol Chevrolet Cadillac

It may not have stopped the presses at the Detroit Auto Show, but news of Cadillac's plan to cap every model in its lineup with either a supped up V-spec version or white-glove Platinum edition is huge. To kick off the plan in style, Cadillac used the show to debut two such special editions: the 2011 CTS-V coupe and 2012 XTS flagship showcased as the XTS Platinum concept.

American auto maker Cadillac is really pumping out the new models these days. First their CTS-V Sports Wagon comes to life, and now talks of a XTS Platinum concept begin.

During an interview at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, General Motors chief designer Ed Welburn said that Cadillac needs "a big halo" vehicle, which can help bring respect back for Caddy as more than an entry-level luxury brand.
