The Right Way to Change a Flat Tire on Your Car

Before you can work on changing a flat tire on your car, it needs to be moved out of the way of any traffic. In order to do this, drive on the rim a few feet, it will not harm the rim.
  1. Use the car's lug wrench to loosen up the nuts on the flat tire, but only two turns max.
  2. Take the car jack, begin jacking up the vehicle to get the bottom of the flat tire off the ground.
  3. Now that the tire is off the ground, use the wrench to remove all the lug nuts.
  4. Gently pull the flat tire off the wheel bolts, replace with the spare tire.
  5. Tighten the lug nuts a few turns, lower the car down, then tighten all the lug nuts securely.
